Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is a globally recognized training program developed by the American College of Surgeons, designed to teach healthcare professionals a systematic, life-saving approach to trauma patients.

In ATLS, participants learn how to:

  • Assess and manage trauma patients quickly and effectively using the ABCDE approach (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure)
  • Identify and prioritize life-threatening injuries within the first critical minutes
  • Perform essential emergency procedures (airway management, hemorrhage control, shock treatment)
  • Make rapid clinical decisions with limited information
  • Work efficiently as part of a trauma team

The main goal of ATLS is simple:
👉 “Treat the greatest threat to life first.”

It is widely used by doctors, nurses, and emergency responders to improve survival and outcomes in trauma cases worldwide.
